What a beautiful day - after clearing up for friends coming over tonight we just concocted and ate a lovely salad of rocket, pomegranate ‘seeds’, pine nuts, and some cold leftover salmon. Yum!
Take a look at the new "your e-mail of the week" I posted yesterday afternoon - wow - don't know how the man who's the subject of the dilemma even managed to bag a girlfriend!
What a day in the papers – more details of the demise of the steroid-fuelled gunman up in Rothbury. Personally I think, after his murderous rampage, he took the best way out. You've got to think of the man he killed, plus the policeman's life that's been tragically altered for the worst, as well as the damage he's done to his ex-girlfriend.
Think of what they'd be put through if he'd gone to trial and if they’d had to testify. The stress, the anguish, the bitterness and anger would have been compounded facing him.
Professionally, I think there could've been some other outcome, if only at some point he'd stopped fuelling his rage with steroids. If only his violent behaviour had been stopped before it ended in death. But people like him manage to slip through any safety nets - often repeatedly.
And then there's Gazza in a right state thinking he could do something about it. Where on earth are his family and friends? It's amazing the man's still alive.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: the best you can do when you see someone self-destructing - in any way – is to try and reach out and give them help or get them help. Ultimately they have to make that decision - but if they're cajoled, pressured, and supported to do so, it might come more quickly.
On a lighter note, am loving the new Arcade Fire tracks - what a band - thank God for music like theirs!
Got to run and sort out dessert for tonight - too hot to cook something - so I may cheat and just offer ice cream and chocolate sauce - but it won't be just any old any chocolate sauce, no way, it'll be my mother's rich, hot chocolate fudge sauce recipe. Might post it one day on the site - secret ingredient and all!
Enjoy your weekend, love, Pam X
