Calling all parents about to name their new baby - In today's Sun newspaper I've given my view on children's names and how they affect your child in school. Check out the research - give your child an old-fashioned name and they do better in school!

That's because we tend to associate anything old-fashioned with being good and reliable. And it's not so simple as saying this is about the names that middle-class parents give their children - who might (not definitely!) end up better behaved in school - both lists (well and poorly behaved) contained ostensibly middle-class names.

Watch out for names that might sound pretentious like Courtney - they also tend to be more badly behaved in school - or at least teachers think so.

There's a prob with shortened names like Sam and Josh - strong, short names are associated with troublesome children too.

Had a lovely comfort-food dinner out with friends last night - it was a super-tasty boeuf bourguinon... okay, I know that’s beef stew with a fancy French name... but it was perfect with a glass of warming red wine.

Over to X Factor where all’s in chaos - poor old Simon Cowell’s suffering from man-flu and evidently (if you can believe the papers) he has a slew of docs around his bedside tending to his every need - I bet he's a tricky patient! I'm hoping Matt’s voice is okay tonight for the X Factor's semi-final - he's been a poorly boy.

Looking forward to an interview on Graham Torrington’s Sunday night show - goes right across six or seven BBC radio stations in the West. He handles all sorts of relationship and sex problems - and we're talking about my new book Steamy Sex. Let's face it, Graham's got the voice for a bit of sexy chat...lovely, rich and strangely comforting - can that be sexy? I think so!

Yay, so glad Stacey and Shaun are in the final of Help I'm a celebrity! I have a soft spot for Jenny Eclair (always struck me as loud on the outside and good as gold on the inside) though I haven't bumped into her for quite some time - but Stacey’s the epitome of kindness and caring. And Shaun’s a complete character plus the purveyor of some pretty good tunes.

TODAY’S THOUGHT: if only more people could be as sweet natured as Stacey. Imagine how much easier life would be... much less anger and bullying. Yeah, she does say some comedy things at times when she isn't trying to be funny. But you can excuse practically anything when such shining qualities as hers come through.

Ooh, don't get me started on extremely unprofessional people who book something and then don't show up - was very annoyed yesterday when something along these lines happened to me in the middle of a hopelessly busy working day.
