Why oh why do celebrities like Tiger Woods think they can do exactly what they want but won't get caught? It appears he's been caught with his trousers well and truly down. At a subconscious level he must realise that every move he makes is noticed. Also with so many kiss-and-tell stories making headline news why wouldn't someone sell their story about him? I'm not condoning selling such tales but everyone knows papers will snatch them up.
It takes a particular sort of personality to risk their status for some quick sex. One element of this is enormous self belief that’s out of proportion with the reality of the way the world works. Such self belief can make a celebrity feel untouchable. Another aspect of this is the fact that someone with Tiger’s status is surrounded by fawning, sychophantic Yes-people who make him think he's untouchable and anything he does can be swept under some dirty little carpet somewhere.
It's complicated by the fact that a massive celebrity ego needs plenty of stroking and sometimes one woman can’t give all that.
TODAY’S THOUGHT: And for us non-celebrities? If you're thinking of having a fling behind your partner's back - put those thoughts on ice while you consider: how would you feel if you were in Tiger’s shoes knowing you'd utterly betrayed and hurt the person you supposedly love most of all? Think how that destruction would really feel. Think of the havoc it could wreak in your life. Is some sordid sex worth it? Have I given you a bit of a nightmare scenario here? Good - I want to make you think!
Tonight I'm off to a gala performance for Comic Relief of Arturo Brachetti's show called ‘Change’ - evidently he puts on a fab show as an illusionist - will tell you about tomorrow.
I'm doing more work on the Department Of Health and Department of Children, Schools and Family sexual health campaign Worth Talking About today and tomorrow. Can’t say exactly what but I'm delighted to try and help to make a difference. Get your condoms on! Look at yourself, Pam X
