We think we've come so far when it comes to relationships but I'm constantly asked about things like who should pay the bill when you first go out to a restaurant - so I've written a few thoughts in a new article that's gone live MSN UK on the ‘Him’ channel.

Some lucky people think they have it all sorted when it comes to relationships - they don't need any advice or they don't think it's worth exploring relationship "issues" from different angles - but human relationships are so complicated that it's good to mull over how people might feel in particular dating situations. Was very disappointed not to be available to give an interview to BBC West Midlands radio about the new paternity test kits available on the high street. It may seem a quick fix solution but it'll undoubtedly be traumatic for some people waiting for the results.

Obviously my advice is don't get yourself in that situation to begin with - and be more choosy who you sleep with - and that's for both men and women. And what about using protection until the point the two of you want to have a baby!

Talk about people power, wow - the march of 1 million in Cairo saw little trouble. There were reports of a "euphoric" feeling in the crowd... until Mubarak said he’d leave at the September elections. Don't think the Egyptian people are going to settle for that - in fact four words are on their lips: too little too late!

Have had an interesting e-mail in from a man who has a fetish for balloons - he likes to blow-up a lot of party balloons, and get naked in a cupboard with them, and feel them all over his body. He's a bit concerned about telling his new girlfriend.

TODAY’S THOUGHT: it sounds like a pretty harmless - but, granted, slightly bizarre - fetish to me. I don't think she'd be so upset about it. Better a few balloons then a gimp mask and leather studded whips!

My advice? Choose your moment and break it to her gently. Show a willingness to compromise on how you introduce some balloon-play into your sex life. Better yet, tell her about it so she doesn't surprise you one day, but don't expect her to share it.
